Shadows

We were investigating shadows earlier in the week. We found that our shadow changes shape and direction throughout the day. We thought about why this happens and linked it to what we know about the sun and earth. Here are some of our videos explaining the orbit of the earth around the sun.

Salad Making

We learned all about healthy eating and had the opportunity to make a salad. They were really tasty and had lots of different fruits and vegetables in them.

Holly, Mae and Rebekah were keen to get started.

Lots of us tried the beetroot and really liked it!

Leo wasn't too keen on the cherry tomatoes. Apprently they burst in his mouth.

New Class Members

Tadpole watch begins!
We are looking after our tadpoles at the moment. 4/3B have been finding out lots about them.

Ruby found out that we should be feeding them rabbit food and brought some in today. They were very hungry and have been munching away all day.
We have also put a stone in their tank so that they can hide behind it if they are scared and when they become more frog like they can sit on it.

George and Jodie have been measuring them and they are getting bigger everyday - the last measurement was 2cm!
We hope to release them in the school pond when they are frogs.

4/3B Weather Watch

Today we spent some time outside studying the weather.
This is the start of our weather watch this half term. We created some wonderful drawings of the weather today.
Aimee said it was as hot as a sizzling sausage in a frying pan today!

Megan, Mae and Teresa carefully drew a tree in the quiet area. They spent a long time drawing the branches to get them just right and noticed lots of shadow today because it was so sunny.
Reece, Nathan C and George drawing the sunny football pitch.

Kieran A drew a fantastic view over the fence. He was really careful to draw exactly what he could see. Brilliant Kieran!
Lauren, Ruby Emily and Hannah drawing a view of the playground.

Space Station Punctuation

Jack Boots is trying to get to space!
We are trying to help him on his mission, but so far we are unsure he will make it. We are a bit worried about his equipment, we don't think he'll make it in the space suit he has on at the moment.
Professor Windsock has asked for our help to get him there, so we are in the process of designing a Jack Boots friendly rocket - we will let you know how it is going soon!

African Munchies

Today we had the munchies, so we all tried some food that grows in some of the countries in Africa.

Megan and Megan loved the watermelon which you can find growing in Namibia.
Everyone liked the grapes. Loads of these are grown in vineyards in South Africa and they are used to make wine.

Rebekah loved the grapes and thought they were 'yummy'.

Mae said she loved everything. Here she is enjoying her passion fruit which grows in Kenya.

George found his apricot from Tunisia had a 'horrible' taste.

Here are Reece, Holly and Nathan. Nathan and Reece loved the falafal from Egypt, but Holly doesn't look as impressed.

We also tried couscous from Morocco, dark chocolate from Uganda, coconut from Angola and banana from Uganda.

Art Day

Everyone had a whole day of art in school. In 4/3B we ceated this wall display on Africa.
We made a pyramid and Mount Kilimajaro fom mod-roc. Did you know it is -25 degrees at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro? Brrrrrr chilly!
We made a collage using different blue papers to create the River Nile and the Sahara Desert from sandpaper! We all drew some animals we know Africa is famous for too, though we created the birds ourselves.

Mythical stories

Hi 4/3B, I hope you are all having a super half term.
Here's a quick reminder of some of the things I'm looking for in your English homework.
Adjectives (don't forget them! Remember, we love them in our class.) Here are a few examples of adjectives you could include if you need some inspiration;
horrible      unusual      thin     sweet      untidy     colossal     magnificent    terrifying      scary     gigantic      dirty      tricky     huge     smelly     impressive    sharp      thick      slippery      blue      green (in fact any colour is a describing word)
Don't forget to use your best handwriting,  CAPITAL LETTERS and FULL STOPS!
Click on this link and have a go at these adjective games to really become an expert in using describing words.

Romans

Last term we learned about the Romans. We enjoyed it. The Romans used to fight the cels and gladiators. Sometimes the romans used to win or lose.

Nathan F

Feargal Fly

We leanred about Feargal Fly in English. He was no ordinary fly, he was a detective. He had to solve the mystery of the Koh i Poor diamond. Who had stolen it?

We enjoyed watching Feargal Fly. When we found out who had stolen the koh i poor diamond we were suprised. We thought it was Sly fox who stole the koh i poor diamond but it was Rhonda and Ivor Menditt.
These are some of Feargal Fly's suspects Sly, Ivor Menditt, Rhonda,Chelsea Bunn, A Sirrop and Earl Ownelott.
When we first started watching Feargal Fly we really didin't understand but he next day we were a lot more confident and we learned a bit more than we did the day before.

Our Giacomettis

In art we have been doing some lovely work about Alberto Giacometti. We have been making a Giacometti in class. It was excelent because we all worked together and helped each other. We liked it because it was fun, messy and we got to use glue and newspaper.

How to make a Giacometti

What you need:
4 pipe cleaners
PVA glue
strips of newspaper
mod roc
paint
water
paper pom pom
1. Make a stick man from 4 pipe cleaners and attach a paper pom pom for the head.

2. Wrap the strips of newspaper around the stick man.

3. Wrap mod roc around the body (this was the messy bit!)

Shape Hunting

In our maths class we went on a shape hunt.
We were looking at the different properties of shape. Here are some of our findings...

Leo and George found this bird house. They found it was made from a cube and a triangular prism. They also said it had parallel lines and Rebekah noticed the cube had four corners.

Lexi spotted that even the path had equalateral triangles in it!

It looks like someone spotted these cylinders and tiangles in the climbling frame.
